Plan for Budget Success

​The most successful budget requests are submitted well in advance—even months ahead of time. If you’ve seen the value in QYK solutions but have had your budget submission denied in the past, try some of these tips to give yourself a better shot next time. 

The goal of my work is to help my clients find ideal solutions for their problems. I invest time and effort in conversation with them to learn about their challenges and educate them on our technologies. I’m thrilled when these conversations lead to successful resolutions. My customers are happy with me and relieved that their data capture challenges are a thing of the past. Unfortunately, things don’t always work out this way. Often, a potential customer will see the value in a proposal only to have it rejected because there was no room in the budget.

This unfortunate outcome is completely avoidable. All it takes is some advance planning. I’ve found that even the best budget requests get rejected if they’re submitted too late. Why? The money has already been allocated elsewhere! The most successful requests are submitted well in advance—even months ahead of time. ​Know Your Deadline

​Your hospital’s fiscal year starts and ends in a consistent month. Knowing this information will allow you to plan your initial meetings with CaraFlow months in advance of your deadline. This way, you can work with the CaraFlow sales team over several months to put together a comprehensive business case for QYK. If your hospital accepts budget requests on a rolling basis, have a target date in mind ahead of time so you can have proper time for planning.

​Know Your Format

​Do you have a colleague in another department that has had a budget request approved? Learn how they put together their request (formatting, rationale, numbers) and incorporate those features into your submission. Competition for budget dollars can be steep. You want to ensure that your request will stand out from the crowd.
