About Windows 7 and Windows Embedded 6.5 End of Support Announcement

WHAT does end of support mean?

After January 14, 2020, if your PC is running Windows 7, it will no longer receive security updates. Therefore, it’s important that you upgrade to a modern operating system such as Windows 10, which can provide the latest security updates to help keep you and your data safer. What DOES MICROSOFT'S END OF SUPPORT MEAN FOR QYK/VAC-SEEN?

This affects QYK Scanners (MC55-2D, MC55-1D) and Vac-Seen Scanners (Somo and iPaq).  These devices use Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 software, which coincides with the Windows 7 end of support date.   Windows Embedded Handheld will no longer receive security updates after January 14, 2020.  The software on these devices will continue to work as they are, but they won't receive security updates after 1/14/2020.

WILL WE NEED TO REPLACE OUR SCANNERS?

QYK/Vac-Seen scanners will continue to operate as they do today.  If technical support is needed, please contact CaraFlow's Technical Support for assistance.  The decision to replace your devices will depend on your organization's IT/IS security team assessments. Most organizations have started upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  QYK/Vac-Seen scanners continue to operate with Windows 10. 

UNSUPPORTED SOFTWARE IS NOT ALLOWED IN OUR ORGANIZATION. HOW CAN WE CONTINUE TO USE QYK?

We now offer QYK Scanners built on the Android operating system.  The device is the Zebra TC51-HC.  It continues to work offline and has the same badge/medication scanning abilities our customers have come to enjoy.  Discounts are available for Current Customers who exchange their existing scanners for the new TC51-HC.  Click here to learn more about the NEW QYK Scanner.
